2015년도 교회 표어 관련 목사님 설교(1월4일자) 요약본을 영문으로 번역하여 보냅니다.

The Year of 2014 has gone and the new year of 2015 has arrived. The fact that there is an end of a year and that there is a start of a year gives us an opportunity to examine ourselves and make more efforts than ever before. Yes, a new year is a fair opportunity which is given to everybody, but the result at the end of the year will be quite different based on what we should live for.

The Slogan of our church for the year of 2015 is “Be clothed with the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 13:14)” We can identify someone who he is or what he is doing by the clothes he is wearing. Then, what does it mean? ‘To be clothed with the Lord Jesus Christ’, it is to be a person who shows the Lord Jesus Christ, who lives only for the Lord Jesus Christ, and who becomes one with the Lord Jesus Christ.

People are usually affected by what they are wearing. About 20 or 30 years ago, we often saw some reserves who retired from the military service behave totally differently when they were wearing the military uniforms. That is, when they wore the suits they used to be nice employees of a company, but they would become very strange when they wore the military uniforms. When they wore suits, they behaved like nice salespeople, but when they wore the uniforms, they forgot their status and behaved like the untidy person.

The Bible says, “Let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.” (Romans 13:12). The life of the believers can be simply put as to be clothed with the Lord Jesus Christ. It means to live a life to show the Lord Jesus Christ in our daily lives and to let Christ who loved me and gave himself to me live in me. (Galatians 2:20, John 14:21)

Then, how can we live the life of showing the Lord Jesus Christ and let Jesus Christ live in me? The scripture, Romans 13:13, says, “Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.” What it means is that we should keep the state of wearing the armor of light, keep wearing the clothes of Jesus Christ, staying away from the worldly things.

The sure way to change the world is to make myself changed, not wishing the world to change for me. Now, it is a new year. Let’s start this year with wearing the clothes of the Lord Jesus Christ.
